Treating Damaged Hair With Ascience Shine Therapy

When Ascience was first introduced to the Malaysian market, I purchased the “Deep Nourish” Shampoo & Conditioner (and possibly Treatment too). Then, when that was reformulated and renamed as “Inner Rich”, I purchased the shampoo, conditioner and treatment.

The “Inner Rich” range is for replenishing dry, damaged and frizzy hair which is prone to breakage and to help restore hair to its original luster. This particular range suited my hair quite well and kept it looking healthy and less dry.

Now Asience has launched another range in addition to their “Inner Rich” and “Nature Smooth” ranges. “Nature Smooth”, for those not in the know yet, is formulated for hair that is prone to tangling and lacking in volume. While “Inner Rich” is more appropriate for those with dry hair, “Nature Smooth” is suitable for those with limp and dull hair due to an oily scalp.

“Shine Therapy” is Ascience’s answer to dull, brittle and chemically treated hair. It restore hair’s protective coating which has been depleted by over exposure to styling, blow-drying, UV rays and chemical products.

In general, I like the scent of all the Asience hair products I’ve tried so far and the same can be said about “Shine Therapy”. The products contain Ammonium Laureth Sulfate as well as Sodium Laureth Sulfate so you can be assured of a rich, thick lather with the shampoos.

The “Shine Therapy” Treatment is as concentrated as the “Inner Rich” Treatment so you don’t need a lot. I use it as an alternative to the Conditioner which is also thicker than a lot of other conditioners out there.

With the “Shine Therapy” products, my hair is soft, smooth and manageable but I’d have to say I got slightly better results with “Inner Rich” as my hair still felt soft and smooth a day or two after usage whereas with “Shine Therapy”, this result was only apparent on the day I used the products but not so much thereafter.

If you have coloured, rebonded or permed your hair recently, you might want to give this range a go. My favourite product is definitely the Treatment because of the ultra concentrated formula and it makes hair much smoother than your run-of-the-mill conditioner can ever do.

Prices of the “Shine Therapy” products is similar to the other ranges. Shampoos and conditioners are RM14.90 for 220ml and RM26.80 for 530ml. Treatments are RM26.80 for 180g. I noticed that refill packs are now available at Jusco supermarkets.

Note : The products were provided by PR at the media launch.
