Confessions Of A Shopaholic Part 7 : Dinner At Sage Restaurant & Wine Bar @ Gardens

Previously, the only reason I had for traipsing up to the 6th Floor of Gardens was to go back to the car park. There was a much better reason for going back up there last week which for Luxasia’s ‘Confessions Of A Shopaholic’ event. A 3-course dinner (not including the palate cleanser was served) to guests.

Sage Restaurant & Wine Bar is a fine dining establishment which has private rooms and a spacious common dining area where you can watch the chefs at work if you are so inclined. There’s a holding area where guests can mingle, chit-chat and have cocktails before being ushered to the dining tables. I can see that this restaurant is a really good venue for large groups as it can accommodate more than one large group at a time.

Entree – Soup

Cream of Porcini Mushroom Soup with Sea Scallop and White Truffle Oil

I love mushroom soup and practically grew up on Campbell’s mushroom soup, a weekly feature in my household. In general, I love mushrooms of any size, kind, variety, shape or form. Therefore, I am particular about my mushroom soups. It’s fine to have canned soup in fast food joints but that wouldn’t be kosher in a place like Sage. Sage’s version is thick and creamy, just the way I like it. The addition of 2 relatively generous chunks of sea scallop only added to the flavour of an already appetising soup. Good till the last drop and would not have minded extras!

Main Course – Fish

Pan Roasted Chilean White Cod Fish with King Prawn and Shellfish Emulsion

Guests  had a choice between fish and Confit of Corn Fed Chicken with Foie Gras and Coriander Jus but since 99% of the diners were ladies, I’d say just about everyone chose the fish. The cod was firm and flavourful and went very well with the sauce. The skin on the cod was crisp and the best part of the fish. The King Prawn was sizeable but it wasn’t as tasty as the cod.

Dessert

Green Tea Bavarois with Adzuki Beans and Home Made Milk Ice Cream

The Green Tea Bavarois was sublime as it just slided into my throat, no chewing required. The milk ice cream was the perfect complement to the Bavarois, neither was too sweet. Call me a Philistine but I don’t like Adzuki beans or any type of beans. Even in ice kacang, I’d omit the red beans. The milk ice cream was so good I could have had an entire tub – glutton!
