Discovering The Street Of Cafes In The Hidden Nook Of Taman Bukit Desa

After lunch yesterday, I headed to Jalan Bukit Desa 5, Taman Bukit Desa as I was curious about the cafes along that road. Found the road easily which is a few minutes away from the more commercial area of Jalan Desa Bakti. As expected, there are a few cafes along Jalan Bukit Desa 5. Parking can be challenging and I only got out of the car because someone had just left & a proper park was available.

As I had parked at the end of the road, I had to walk up towards the cafes. I visited a cafe a few doors away from Kews Patisserie first and that one had a lot of choices of cakes and breads but they were rather expensive, averaging RM16 above each. I got out of that post-haste. There were other cafes to check out and I didn’t want to settle for the 1st one I went into.

Next stop : Kews Patisserie since Red Kettle was closed. This one has really nice decor and several sections for seating whether you come in small or large groups. The decor is very charming and the owner of this cafe obviously loves colour, evident from the seats, cushions and art on the walls.

Since I had already had lunch, I was just picking up some dessert. I was drawn to the matcha crumble cake @ RM9 & the chocolate croissant @ RM9. Prices here are a lot more reasonable than the 1st cafe I went into.

Chocolate Croissant & Matcha Crumble

The Chocolate Croissant doesn’t look like a croissant but it does taste like a croissant. Perhaps it should be called a chocolate danish. Anyway, it was okay, tasty and better than other chocolate danish or croissant I tried from different bakeries. The chocolate was bitter sweet, good quality chocolate.

The Matcha Crumble was totally amazing. I can’t wax lyrical enough about it. I was hoping it wouldn’t be dry and didn’t expect the matcha flavour to be strong and more than satisfactory. The texture is dense and you get a lot of bites from this thick slice. Just the best slice of cake I have had in a very long time.
