Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser

Boscia is well known for its preservative-free, alcohol-free, pH balanced skincare. Their Detoxifying Black Cleanser is a gel cleanser that warms up on contact with your skin, formulated to dissolve pore-clogging dirt and oil without stripping the skin of moisture.

It has a detergent and sulfate-free formula with exfoliating properties that smooth the skin’s texture while preserving its natural moisture balance. The key ingredients in this cleanser are:-

Activated Charcoal to absorb excess oils and impurities as it neutralizes toxins from the skin’s surface. Has exfoliating properties to refine skin and reduce pore buildup.

Glycolic Acid to improve the skin’s appearance and texture by accelerating the exfoliation process of the upper layer of the epidermis.

Artichoke Leaf Extract to help treat the two factors that contribute to visible pores : excess sebum which causes the pore walls to expand and the darkening of pores, caused by the deposit of dirt and sebum clogged inside the pores as well as UV damage. Inhibits hyperpigmentation due to UV rays, which in turn can not only increase the appearance of pore size but contributes to the darkening inside the walls.

Licorice Root, an antioxidant to help calm, sooth, condition and balance skin pH levels to embrace maximum treatment benefits. It helps reduce hyperpigmentation and minimizes the appearance of dark spots by blocking tyrosinase enzymes to help inhibit melanin synthesis.

Vitamin P, the active component in citrus peel that helps enhance blood circulation to provide a warming sensation to the skin.

Vitamin C, an antioxidant that helps to prevent free radical damage, stimulate collagen production and inhibit the concentration of melanin to inhibit hyperpigmentation.

boscia’s Unique Botanical Blend : Jojoba Leaf helps to prevent free radical damage while nourishing the skin and Willowherb helps to calm skin inflammation and reduce visible redness and irritation.

Although the cleanser looks black when pumped out, it turns into a milky lather when water is added. There is an instant warming sensation when I massage it into my skin with my palms and the more product I pump out, the warmer it is. However, I find that the warming sensation is not as intense if I massage it on to my skin with a puff.

This isn’t a makeup cleanser so it didn’t remove all my makeup. I need a 2nd cleanser after this one to remove all makeup residue. I prefer to use this cleanser in the mornings and a stronger cleanser in the evenings for removing makeup.

It’s actually quite a gentle/mild cleanser which doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry. I do like the warming sensation because it feels like my pores have opened up and that’s good because I want my pores to open up for application of certain masks like Origins Clear Improvement® (active charcoal mask).
