Drugstore Find Of 2011

As the year draws to a close today, I thought it only appropriate to feature this because it truly is my drugstore find of 2011. I purchased this set in July when there were plenty of this value pack on the shelves. I know that these 2 products – Renew Rose Hip Oil & Hydrating Mist Toner -have been available for some time now but since the price was right with this pack, I picked them up only in July.

Although I am a little wary of using oils on my face, I have been curious about Renew skincare products for a long time and had always thought of giving the Rose Hip Oil a try. After all, it is less than RM100 and certified 100% organic and natural to boot. The fact that the Rose Hip Oil came with the Hydrating Mist Toner (worth RM42.90) made this too tempting to resist.

Since I do use Vichy Thermal Spray from time to time to refresh my skin, Renew’s Hydrating Mist Toner seemed like a good alternative. It’s perfect that it is a spray bottle so I can take it along on short trips to spritz my face and arms on a hot day. I can use this to set my make-up too. It feels hydrating even when it’s sprayed over make-up. Although it contains rose floral water, the scent is rather mild and pleasant.

Now my favourite drugstore product of 2011 is Renew’s Rose Hip Oil. It comes in a smallish opaque brown bottle with a dropper dispenser. Rose Hip Oil, Rose Hip Oil, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways!

Well for starters, I didn’t expect much from this oil. After all, there were so many of them left on the shelves and they didn’t seem to be moving week after week. The moment I opened the bottle and dispensed a few drops on to my body after my shower, I was in love.

This product softens any part of my skin on which it has been applied and my wrinkly, withered lines are smoothened as if I am suddenly 21 again (I wish!). I usually add a few drops to body lotions and creams which gives it an even better effect.

It’s a very light oil which absorbs into skin without any trace of oiliness.I have mixed it with serums and moisturisers and am even thinking of mixing it in with my foundations. It adds radiance and luminosity to my skin.

Renew’s Rose Hip Oil is extracted from the wild rose that grows in South America. Rose Hip Oil is said to help with the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, oily skin, dry skin, scarring, dull and lifeless skin.

I have been using the Rose Hip Oil for a few weeks and my skin looks dewy and hydrated when I wake up. So far, so good as it has not clogged my pores nor have I experienced any major break-outs even with twice daily usage.
