Guest Review : Boscia No Pores No Shine T-Zone Treatment

Boscia No Pores No Shine T-Zone Treatment is a multitasking treatment for reducing the appearance of pores and controlling shine. It instantly tightens pores and treats blackheads while helping both become less visible over time. This product also controls oil and shine all day, imparting skin’s texture with a silky, soft-focus finish. I passed this product to Fatin to review as I wanted to find out whether it’d successfully control the oiliness of her skin and hopefully produce a more matte appearance.

I’m always on the look out for the ‘IT‘ primer or makeup base for my oily skin. Not that I’m not happy with my current one but it’s great if I could get an amazing one. I think I already knew what to expect from Boscia No Pores No Shine T-Zone Treatment.

It is a multi-tasking treatment that instantly reduces the appearance of pores and blackheads while keeping them less visible over time. It mattifies oil and shine all day as it smoothes skin’s texture, leaving a soft focus.

The main ingredients that make up this primer are Artichoke Leaf Extract, Silica, Burdock Root Jojoba Leaf and Willowherb. The minute I saw Silica when I was looking through the ingredients I had a feeling this product wouldn’t work as expected on my skin. I would say it’s similar to Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer and Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion – Pore Perfecting, both of which are silicone based and didn’t work all too well with keeping my skin shine free or more like keeping my makeup on at all.

It comes in a pump dispenser which is great at controlling the amount you want to use. Hence no wastage. The texture is light and is easily applied onto the skin. It has a slight cooling sensation upon application. I noticed that it does lessen the appearance of pores slightly but obviously to put it to the test, I applied my foundation of choice over the primer.

Everything went down hill from then on. I know I said I want shine free skin but this was something else. After applying my foundation I noticed that my complexion appeared dull but somewhat matte. It also seems to enhance lines. About 1 hour later I could feel my skin getting oily but it also felt as though the oils couldn’t come up to the surface, which made my makeup look really heavy. An hour after that, I noticed my makeup, foundation and all becoming a tad blotchy and needless to say regardless of blotting, the makeup came sliding off my face eventually. Looked really weird! In fact I had the same experience with the UD and Smashbox primers.

Although the description says that is can either be used under or over makeup, I only tried it over makeup as I don’t fancy applying anything else over my makeup especially if it’s a silicone based product.

So I have come to a conclusion that silica/silicone based primers just does not work on my skin. I will stick to my current mousse base for now.

This product is paraben free, dermatologist tested and pH balanced. It is free of preservatives, alcohol, artificial fragrances and colourants. This product was made without animal testing or animal ingredients.

If you do want to try Boscia No Pores No Shine T-Zone Treatment, it is available at Sephora outlets at RM139 (30ml).
