Burberry Make-Up Demo By Celeste Sng

Time flies and it’s been more than a year since my last Burberry event which was my introduction to Burberry Beauty. This time, I was invited to a make-up demo by their international make-up artist from Singapore, Celeste Sng.

Before I go into the nitty-gritty of the make-up used in the demo, it’s worth noting that Burberry Beauty doesn’t have any skincare hence their products such as their Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base and liquid foundations contain skincare properties, e.g. wild rose for hydration and rejuvenation. Each season, Burberry Beauty products are inspired by Burberry Prorsum.

To start with, Fresh Glow is applied to skin – this is a primer/make-up base which can be used 3 ways:-

under liquid foundation/compact powder.
mixed with liquid foundation (less Fresh Glow if you want a less sheer look and equal portions of Fresh Glow and foundation if you want a more sheer look).
on top of make-up for highlighting.

Fresh Glow comes in 1 universal shade and will create iridescence, luminosity and dewiness, whether you apply it before, with or after foundation. It’s the “I’ve-just-come-out-from-a-facial-look”, according to Celeste. The Liquid Foundation has a light-reflecting texture and comes in 12 shades. Apply from the centre of the face and blend outwards.

Celeste used the Sheer Concealer (3 shades) which comes equipped with a brush to create dimension to skin so that it doesn’t look flat or dull by sweeping the concealer over the T-zone and on the eyelids, wherever skin looks a bit dark.

Next, Rosewood is applied on the lids in an upward motion, softening the shade as the brush goes up and ensuring that there are no hard lines. You want to get a colour gradation with depth. Tea Rose is then applied to define the contours of the eyes.

Eye liner should be soft and blended, not harsh. Apply it very closely to lashes and almost in between the lashes so that lashes look fuller. Use the side of the pencil to shade. Use an eye shadow, e.g. Rosewood to set liner so that it doesn’t smudge and will have longer staying power.

A short domed shaped kabuki brush is used to apply the pressed powder, the shape fits the contours of the face. Buff in circular motions. Burberry brushes are made of goat hair/goat and sable save for the foundation brush which is synthetic.

With regard to the eye shadows, Pale Barley is used first from lids to browbone as a base. Press the eye shadow brush flat down on the eye shadow. Applied to the inner corners of the eyes, Pale Barley brightens the eyes and gives subtle definition. Next, Rosewood is applied on the lid in an upward motion, softening as you go up so that there are no hard lines. You want to have a colour gradation creating a bit of depth. Finally, Tea Rose is applied to define the contours of the eyes, give dimension and shape.

Eye liner should be soft and blended, not harsh. Apply it very closely to lashes, almost between lashes so that lashes look fuller. Use theside of the pencil to shade and soften the line with an eye definer blending brush. Create more intensity on the outer corners of the eyes. Then use eye shadow to set the liner so that it doesn’t smudge and will have longer staying power.

After eye shadow has been applied, concealer is the best touch-up for any smudges/mistakes. Apply 2 coats of Effortless Mascara, Taupe Brown eye shadow for brows so that they look fuller, Blossom Blush on cheeks with any leftovers to be applied to forehead and chin to give dimension. On lips, Celeste used Golden Peach #29 lipstick and Nude Rose #14 gloss. She finished with a final application of Fresh Glow to browbones as a highlight.
