Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies™ & MasterLiner

There are 2 new eye makeup products from Maybelline – Volum’ Express The Falsies™ (Mascara) and MasterLiner. Apparently, Volum’ Express The Falsies™ is a cult product with one piece sold somewhere in the world every 1.4 seconds.

Formulated for better press, curl and impact, Volum’ Express The Falsies™ has a patented Spoon Curler Brush for generating more volume. There are 3 holding ingredients for lifted, arched lashes and 3 building ingredients for stronger, bolder volume.

This is a waterproof mascara with quite a nice applicator. I like it because it’s different from the run-of-the-mill straight wands which don’t give any lift to lashes. This spoon brush has to be used in 3 steps for maximum effect:-

Step 1 – Deposit

Use the short bristled side of the brush against lashes to apply Volum’ Express The Falsies™ generously at the roots.

Step 2 – Spread

Turn the brush and use the long bristled side to coat lashes, feathering lashes upward and outward.

Step 3 – Set

Use the brush on its flat side to press and set the lashes in a perfect curve.

The brush contains quite a bit of formula when you take it out. It’s a well-designed brush because the curling effect is evident within a few swipes on the lashes without the use of an eyelash curler. There is also volume and length although I won’t go so far as to say my lashes look like falsies.

My lashes maintain the curl all day without any smudging (it is waterproof, after all) so I am well pleased with this mascara. Of course, my lashes don’t look like the promotional pictures, now that would be really stretching it. Let’s just say this mascara delivers reasonably well in every aspect.

Volum’ Express The Falsies™ retails at RM42.90.

Complementing Volum’ Express The Falsies™ is MasterLiner, a creamy kohl liner that doesn’t need sharpening. It has a fine point which makes for easy drawing of fine lines. It isn’t an intense black so it doesn’t give a very dramatic effect but it’s fine for day looks. I like this one as it’s so easy to use (compared to liquid liners) and it doesn’t smudge either.

MasterLiner retails at RM15.90.

Note : Both products are press samples.
